Terms of service

What SunnyCheck does
SunnyCheck Permits reads the permit package you upload and compares it with the building department's published checklists and forms, county rules and Florida law. It is a pre-check, not a permit review, a code review or legal advice. The building department decides whether a permit is issued, and its reviewers may ask for things SunnyCheck doesn't check. We don't guarantee that a package will be approved.
Your account
- Give a real email address and keep your password to yourself. One account per person.
- The free trial is for trying the service: one per team and per card. Don't open accounts to get more trials.
- A team's owner manages its plan and its people, and is responsible for its payments. Everyone on a team shares the plan's permits and sees the team's checks. The owner can remove people; anyone can leave a team, and keeps their own account.
- Don't upload anything you don't have the right to share, or anything other than permit documents. Don't try to break, overload or copy the service.
Your files
You keep all rights to what you upload. You let us process it to run the check and produce the report. If you tick "Share this package", you also let us keep it for up to 365 days to test and improve the checker. See the privacy policy.
Permits, plans and payments
- Permits. A permit is one package (any number of files) checked once for one job. Checking the same job again (the same address or folio, and the same permit type) within 30 days of its first check uses no permit. If a check fails on our side, or we can't read the package, its permit is given back automatically.
- Plans give a team a number of permits every billing month. They start again each month, and unused permits don't carry over. Prices are on the Pricing page, in US dollars, plus any tax that applies.
- The free trial. A team's first plan starts with a 7-day free trial with up to 50 permits. You give a card when the trial starts. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the plan starts on day 8 and the card is charged the plan's monthly price.
- Automatic renewal. Plans renew automatically every month and the card on file is charged each month until the plan is cancelled. You cancel on the Account page. A month-to-month plan then ends when the month you paid for ends, and works until then.
- 12-month plans are billed monthly at a lower price in exchange for 12 billing months, counted from the first paid month. Cancelling one takes effect when the 12 months end, and the monthly payments until then are still due. After the 12 months it continues month to month at the same price, and can be cancelled like any monthly plan.
- Extra seats. Each person on a team besides its owner is an extra seat, billed monthly with the plan from the day they join; removing someone takes the seat off from that day. Seats added or removed during a month are prorated.
- Changing plans. Moving to a bigger plan takes effect at once; the difference for the rest of the month is prorated on the next invoice. For other changes, write to hhopkins@sunnycheckpermits.com.
- Single permits are paid once, don't expire and are shared by the team.
- Failed payments. If a payment fails, Stripe tries again over the following days and the plan keeps working; if it still can't be paid, the plan ends.
- Refunds. We don't refund part of a month, unused permits or single permits, except where the law requires it. If you think a charge is wrong, write to hhopkins@sunnycheckpermits.com within 60 days.
- Price changes. We'll tell you by email at least 30 days before a price changes. A new price applies from the first billing month after that notice; a 12-month plan keeps its price until its 12 months end.
- More than 100 permits a month: custom plans are agreed separately, and those terms apply together with these.
- Payments are processed by Stripe.
No warranty; limits
The service is provided "as is". Rules change and documents can be misread, so check the report against the town's current requirements before you submit. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim about the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Changes and ending
We may change these terms; we'll show the date of the last change here, and tell you by email about changes to plans or payments. You can stop using the service at any time: cancel your plan on the Account page (it ends as described above), then delete your account once the plan has ended. We may suspend accounts that break these terms.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida.
